Hi, Bill -
I've pulled Jim Diaz off of this email thread so as to not create a communication with a majority of the Council.
The Council and City have been focusing quite a bit on finding and onboarding a permanent City Manager. While Adam Politzer as our Interim City Manager has been doing excellent work, as a retiree his time is limited and he is not able to continue with the City past a certain point. It has been my primary goal to find a permanent replacement.
There will likely be a period of time after we hire a permanent replacement to properly onboard the individual. After that point we'll be able to take up the issue of a parking permit program again.
Thank you for your patience.
-Jeff Wan

ReplyDeleteThanks for update, Jeff. CM info need, little but ofen. thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis is a repost of my comments on Nextdoor with edits. Can someone follow up on the status of the project which seems to be at the nexus for the need for a parking permit program? A question. - How much time does the project have before starting construction before their permit expires, needs an extension? Where they allowed to clear and do some rough grading (seen on site) before actual building plans were approved? Does their Conditions of Approval require them to build by a certain time or they forfeit their entitlements? If any of these Conditions exist (and they are required to either extend or resubmit or even sell) has the City pursued a relook at their conditions of approval such that they, the Developer would be required to pay for or at least contribute to the costs to initiate the permit infrastructure required (for example signs and permits themselves in addition to the will be obvious admin. and enforcement costs) and a property specific assessment levied to pay for future costs. TO the City Council, why not as a matter of POLICY OR ORDINANCE for this and any other project that would necessitate a parking permit in any future neighbored program be made the responsibility of the Developer and Development. The obvious nexus is there. Seems a bit shortsighted not to tackle this now. Consider this an appeal for fairness to the rest of the taxpaying citizens of Clayton.
ReplyDeleteYou have laid out all the issues perfectly and the next step is action by the city. It is long overdue.
