By Jeff Wan, Clayton City Councilmember
On Tuesday, the Council met in regular session. Though there were no public hearings or action items, we did discuss a few items:
The City presented a check to the Mt. Diablo Elementary PFC in the amount of $6,258.38.
This year, the City Sponsored Special Events Committee consisting of myself and Vice Mayor Trupiano, had the idea of partnering with the PFC to collect donations at our annual Concerts in the Grove series. Each year the City sponsors concerts and during those concerts the City has traditionally asked for donations in order to support the cost of the events. Rather than have City staff and Councilmembers collect these funds, we asked if the PFC would like to help out, and in exchange we would share any of the monies donated.
It was a great success and I look forward to continued opportunities to partner with our local schools.
This was also the first meeting that our new City Manager, Kris Lofthus was present. He started the day before, and I am excited to work with him as the City continues to move forward.

It was fantastic that the City Special Events Committee came up with the idea of partnering and sharing the revenues, and even better, it was for our local school. Well done.!
ReplyDeleteExcellent work! Let's aim to replicate this success next year. Remember to keep the concerts separate from Geller and the CBCA. Things appeared to run much smoother and you had a complete accounting of the money. Kudos to Kim, Jeff, and Jim for their outstanding efforts!
DeleteGeller's VIP seating was a total letdown. He only let his friends sit there, and a lot of them weren't even sponsors of the event. I'm really happy to hear that they've taken the concerts away from him, so now we can go back to treating everyone fairly.
DeleteNothing should ever be handled in the city by the CBCA. The CBCA has horrible leadership, moved away from its core values, and is now being occupied by bullies. The majority of the membership are not nice, sorry to say
ReplyDeleteThe CBCA does a lot of good things for the community, but they are a bunch of idiots when it comes to people skills and business savvy. They need new leadership fast before their membership gets any lower. In other words, they are not a friendly bunch and are not very welcoming.
DeleteAmen. Our family experienced the same treatment. Matt Tillman asked us to join and were never introduced at the first meeting we attended. The meeting was pretty petty. It was like being back in high school. IMHO stay away from this group and volunteer your time elsewhere. Mt. Diablo Elementary School could use your help.
DeleteMatt Tillman is recruiting people from Pittsburgh for the CBCA. How does that make sense? It just shows that they are killing membership with the petty political game-play they should not be doing.
DeleteI was a member of the CBCA but I terminated my membership because it got too political. I agree, they need new leadership that will bring the focus back to their core.value. Use to be a good organization.
ReplyDeleteThey have to get rid of Carl Wolfe and Matt Tillman, who are killing the CBCA.
DeleteThe CBCA is so desperate for membership that it is recruiting in Pittsburgh. This is a sad state for the CBCA and its leadership.
