Dear Clayton Community;

The League of Women Voters of Diablo Valley should be embarrassed. The candidates form was a complete fiasco and a joke. The moderator had no clue what he was doing and wasted time worrying about who would answer the question first.

The two questions that really teed me off were the one about the gay parade, and the other one about how the city council could help with the poor economic conditions affecting all of us.

Both questions were inappropriate and should’ve never been asked. In addition, listening to Holly Tillman boast about all her endorsements was sickening. Let’s not forget this is a non-partisan election for a town of 11,000 people. Why in the hell would she need to get all these endorsements, it makes no sense.

Thanks allowing me to post this article.

Best regards,

A Clayton Resident that was in Attendance

  2. Holly lied throughout the forum about what she had done; truth be told, she does nothing but join a zillion committees. Her only focus is Holly Tillman and what is good for Holly Tillman. She has a chip on her shoulder and with each word she speaks it is clear.

  3. Why on earth discuss the "gay pride parade" is this supposed to be an accomplishment that makes ALL citizens life better? However, in this regard I do have a question - why is it always held on the Lord's day? Is that supposed to be sensitive, tolerant of others and all encompassing.
    Why is this issue of prominence when we have fiscal and maintenance issues abounding that need to be addressed. Again, who cares about outside group endorsements? Don't we have real citizens that need to be taken care of and who issues must be addressed? I could go on, but it appears to me from her performance that Ms. Tillman really only cares about having her ego scratched and sowing discontent.

  4. For years the candidate forum appears to get its questions from Tamara Steiner. The questions are always designed to help the candidates Steiner and CBCA favor. Why has a question about passing over Vice Mayor Wan and the division that caused never been asked? Why is it policy questions aren’t the main issue? The question about the parade made it sound like Clayton is homophobic. Of course, 4 years ago, Clayton was so racist according to Holly Tillman and the League Of Women voters forum made up an issue that didn’t exist. 6 years ago, candidates were allowed rebuttals. Now they are not allowed to say anything unless it’s how much they volunteer at CBCA. And yes, why is a non partisan election now mired in endorsements from the AFL-CIO and the Democratic Party?

  5. Who allowed those question? What about a question that talks about our finances or why the town is so divided? This whole thing stinks and that group needs to get their act together.

  7. They should have asked Holly why she said Clayton police profile and now she is bragging about how she supports then. Did they stop profiling or was she telling another lie? As a former police officer I am highly offended by her nonsense. Holly is the one who is profiling. Just listen to what she says about the people that live in Clayton. Please vote her out. Enough of her BS.

    1. Mr Know It All, maybe as a former police officer, you should speak to Sgt Shaw and Chief Macacherin about being so buddy-buddy with Holly, who speaks so poorly of our law enforcement. She always puts both on display, and I don't think anyone realizes how much she uses both of them to further her agenda.

    2. Interesting how Holly took so many pictures with the police and used them on her door tag! Suddenly she loves the police she accused of being racist and profiling. 4 years ago she led protests against the police and now she loves them. Anything to get elected! She never mentions how she was the ONLY council member who supported Diane Becton, our County DA that lets criminals off the hook. Not even her close pals Wolfe and Cloven supported Becton. If you look just a little, you will see Holly's true colors.

    3. Behind Holly's facade is an angry, hate-filled woman with greater political ambitions. She will use, step on, lie, and stab in the back, anyone or anything in her way. Her minions are just as nasty, hurting people, which is funny because she isn't their friend, and when they wake up from the toxic spell, they will be ashamed of themselves.

  8. A better question is, why aren't the questions impartial? Why do specific candidates seem to have the questions ahead of the forum? The library foundation should get most of the questions before they are presented or some other group without leaking them to particular candidates for review and approval. The nonsense pride question should have never been asked. That question wholly sidelined other groups discriminated against. Also, a pride parade is NOT a city event; city representatives do not need to take time away from their families or churches on a Sunday. Also, some may dislike crowds and feel uncomfortable in large groups. Everyone knows that is a Holly support question, and it was disgusting for a supposed impartial forum. Finally, the table out front of the library with Holly's paraphernalia should NEVER be allowed! It should not be permitted for any candidate! It does not show impartiality!

  9. The pride question should have never been asked. It’s not a city issue that has any bearing on city policy. All questions should have been focused on issues that impact the city, such as housing, finance, crime, quality of life, and city services. The Pride question was strictly a loaded, intended to trap a candidate into making an unfavorable comment to be leveraged against them. Fortunately, none of the candidates took the bait.
