This Might Be the Most Important Election Clayton Residents Have Ever Faced
From the Desk of Bill Walcutt and Gary Hood:
Thank you for your past correspondence and interest in our City. As many of you are aware, the City of Clayton is facing a number of very important unaddressed issues by our current council majority, Peter Cloven, C.W. Wolf, and Holly Tillman.
We all see it every day:
· The City of Clayton has a structural budget deficit that has not been addressed, except to kick the can down the road and push for a tax increase.
· Trails and roadway landscaping not being maintained.
· The Grove Park and Community Park are deteriorating. Street light poles and street directional signs have been missing for months.
· Red curbs, crosswalks, and street lane markings faded or missing.
· A City Manager who only comes into the office two or three days a week. (A great PT gig.)
· High staff turnover. (Revolving Door)
The problems above have been growing over the last two years under the watch of past Mayor C.W. Wolf and current Mayor Perter Cloven.
So what is our current council leadership doing about it? NOTHING.
Our current Mayor, Peter Cloven, just announced he wants to push for a “Climate Action Plan” in Clayton and install charging stations for electric vehicles. With all the important unaddressed issues facing this city, the Mayor wants to focus on Climate Change and charging stations. While these may be important issues, we need to get our house in order first. We need new common sense leadership and leadership that can balance our budget and stop the deficit spending.
There are four (4) candidates running for two (2) seats on the City Council. Two candidates, Jeff Wan, and Kim Trupiano are committed to turning this ship around. They will prioritize the issues facing our city and work on common sense solutions to address them. The leadership we need.
The current city council majority supports the other two candidates, and if elected, nothing will change. Just look around town and see what they have done over the past two-to-three years. NOTHING.
The choice is clear. Do you want to get Clayton back on track? If yes, support Jeff Wan and Kim Trupiano. If you do nothing, we will continue down the same road of disengaged leadership, a divided community, total mismanagement, and lack of over-site.
Here is what we are requesting:
1. Request a yard sign for Kim Trupiano and Jeff Wan.
2. Endorse Kim Trupiano and Jeff Wan.
3. Volunteer to distribute Kim Trupiano and Jeff Wan’s door hangers.
4. Also, contributions to Kim Trupiano's campaign would be greatly appreciated.
You can email us with sign locations, endorsements, and volunteering. Contributions can be made on Kim's website. Kimforclayton.com.
Thank you for your consideration. We appreciate anything you can do to help them with their campaign.
