Last night the Council met to discuss one significant item:

- We authorized the recording of a noise abatement agreement for Oakhurst Golf Course. City ordinance prohibits landscaping work before 7am, however due to the nature of golf course operations Oakhurst has always had an agreement with the city that allows them to start earlier. The prior agreement had expired and the City renewed it with updated terms last night.

The new agreement has a 36 month term, and provides that no maintenance activity shall be performed prior to 5:30am. It also specifies later start times around certain areas of the course to reduce the noise impact to nearby residences. The agreement provides an avenue for complaints and a resolution process as well, and includes a provision that a survey of adjacent residences towards the end of the term of the agreement will be conducted in order to collect feedback for any future modifications.

  1. Today it was dark at 7:00 AM so no tee times at that hour yet the maintenance group was out at 6:00 AM at the 17th and 18th hole with as many as 4 pieces of equipment! Makes no practical sense at all but it's now blessed. - How nice though we will be able to be surveyed and complain after 3 years! Sure, makes us feel better but the fact is that it only makes the Council members who voted for this feel better. What a farce! - Thanks a lot City Council for not listening to your constituents and siding with the greed of Oakhurst Partners and Troon golf-course management. - Makes you wonder what does our representatives getting out of doesn't it?

    1. Do you realize that if the golf course closes, they will develop all the land into homes? Will you then complain about the building, noise, traffic, dirt, etc.?

    2. Obviously, you have not heard or do not care about ALL of the people affected by the noise. Curiously for 20 some years the folks that live adjacent to the golf course and the Country Club management were able to coexist, adjust and compromise. However, this new Owner and their professional management and maintenance group just don't care and think they can through their weight around with this Council. The result is they do what they want and have plans to screw us and their neighbors even more like condos and the solar panel eyesore debacle that disgraces the area between the 12th and 13th.

    3. Unfortunately, we all have to live with something. We all have to make compromises.

    4. Try living and growing up next to a factory with 18-wheelers coming and going at all hours and train tracks behind that ran day and night. I did, in fact, and a golf course is easy. A bunch of wealthy complainers who need Prozac!

    5. We do need Prozac we want to be able to sleep past 5:45! - I see you moved maybe you should move back

    6. Yes, I moved. In fact, I moved completely across the country, not for noise, that's for sure, but if the noise concerns you so much, take your own advice and move.

  2. What were you expecting when you bought a home on a golf course? Maintenance doesn’t stop just because you don’t like the noise. Grow up.

    1. I expect my City Council to respect and make them comply with the noise ordance that were in place when we Built our house...I got an idea for you, give me your address and i will hire and landscaper to come by at 5:45AM oh know that would violate the noise ordinance but I won't do that to as you would complain!

    2. The council works for Clayton, including the golf course and you. Decisions are made based on what is best for the 11,000-plus residents, not a few whiners. Invest in a good pair of earplugs

  3. It is astounding that some people live such insulated lives here, thinking the world should revolve around them and their needs. Well, here is a wake-up call: The world has changed dramatically. It’s impossible to control every aspect of your life and those around you to your liking. Suck up, buttercup, use some earplugs, blackout curtains and plant some shrubs and stop complaining about everything. It isn't necessary nor is it helpful. Talk directly to the country club
