The Great Power Grab - Never Has a Vice Mayor Been Passed Over (4500 Flyer)

By Clayton Watch

At the Council meeting on Tuesday the new council was sworn in, the outgoing councilmembers stepped down, the council was reorganized, and the new mayor was selected. A very normal process except that historically in Clayton the vice mayor has always elevated to Mayor except for one vice mayor that had to resign because he was convicted of a felony. Never has a vice mayor been passed over for purely political reasons.

Well it happened, Carl Wolfe organized a coup to take majority control of the council and elevate himself to Mayor, appoint Peter Cloven as vice mayor and throw Vice Mayor Wan under the bus. He was just so eager for power he couldn't wait his turn. I don't think this passes the smell test for "Do the Right Thing". He says he wants to bring the council together-to heal the divide? Really

It looks like Jeff Wan made the ultimate mistake/sacrifice, he put the interest of Clayton citizens above the developers and the Squad-now the Wolfe pack. Pretty sad day for Clayton.

I am really disappointed in Peter Cloven. I thought he would be able to put election politics aside and support Jeff Wan as Mayor, a positions he has earned and is well qualified for to lead the city out of this high density mess. I guess the lure of power outweighed the ethical thing to do. Who do you think he will be loyal to?- the citizens or the Wolfe pack? If he wants to be Mayor in December 2021 he is going to have to please the new pack because he just witnessed what happens if he doesn't.

And last. What happened to all the diversity talk during the campaign? We have three ethnic members on the council and none are in leadership positions. Was diversity forgotten or was it just campaign talk?

If find this action by Carl Wolfe and Peter Cloven distributing reach out to them and voice your concerns.
